Anchor Splash

Delta Gamma uses Anchor Splash as a week dedicated to raising money towards our philanthropy, Service for Sight, Aid to the Blind. Locally, we can make a big difference through our close involvement with Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Anchor Splash 2009 will run from Monday, November 9th through Saturday, November 14th. Here is the schedule:

Mr. Anchor Splash

A participant from each fraternity competes by answering trivia, showing off his talent of choice, and strutting his stuff in a piece of swimwear. In addition to these activities, each team also submits a decorated banner that will be judged for points. The winners' banner will be displayed on campus during Splash Week and hung up during the Splash Day event.

Coin Wars and Capture the Anchor

A table in the breezeway will be set up for each participant to add change to during the day to gain points. Capture the Anchor is a new addition to Anchor Splash this year. Each Delta Gamma sister will be wearing an anchor pinned onto her shirt, and Anchor Splash teams will have to collect as many anchors as they can and bring each one to the breezeway for points. For extra points, teams can donate prescription glasses or sunglasses and wear their Anchor Splash shirts.

Lip Sync and Sister Auction

Each Fraternity performs an entertaining lip sync, complete with dance moves and all. Also, the lovely ladies of Delta Gamma have a sister auction where the fraternities can bid on fun events or gatherings the sisters put together.

Splash Day!

Our favorite day of Anchor Splash! A pool day with free food, a DJ, raffle prizes, and fun pool activities, such as swim relay races and synchronized swim routines by our teams. Splash Day is now open to all nonparticipants for a suggested donation of $5. The winners of Anchor Splash will be announced at the end of the day!

All proceeds from Anchor Splash go to Miami Lighthouse for the Blind.
